BGYouth Mission Trip 2025 July 6-11
BGYouth Mission Trip 2025 July 6-11
This year’s BG Youth summer mission trip will be with Group Mission Trips (GMT) July 6-11, 2025. Group Mission Trips runs weekly service projects at various sites around the country. The first choice for our trip is Pittsburgh, PA with last year’s destination Newark, NY as second choice if the Pittsburgh site becomes fully booked. During the week, several youth groups will be working together as part of this same trip, all hosted at one location by GMT. Participants will be doing various community service projects each day, along with attending GMT youth group-type services each morning and evening run by GMT staff. Our youth group will do daily devotions and debriefings together. Students must be 11 years old or entering 6th grade to participate. Many trip details can be found online https://groupmissiontrips.com/trip-types/community-service/pittsburgh.
The adult leaders for the trip are Alan Pauling (akp3@cornell.edu) and Cynthia Cuykendall. We have been the adult leaders for this trip each year for the past three years and can answer many questions you have that aren’t covered in the web page linked above. Group Missions requires a 5 to 1 student to adult ratio. If the group is larger than 10 students, then we will need more adults to attend.
Total cost of the trip is estimated to be $475 each. This includes Group Missions registration costs ($348 each), transportation costs, some meals and a fun team activity (amusement park, go karts, mini golf, swimming have been previous year’s activities). Final team costs will be determined once team size is finalized, and we know if we will need a second vehicle or not (the BG van will be used but may need another if group size is larger than 10 total).
Deadlines for making decisions for this trip are a bit flexible, though the sooner decisions can be made the better. Registration payments are non-refundable after May 15, though we can register people up to a month before the trip. However, we need to plan for leaders and transportation, and fundraising, so please register on the youth group website by May 12, 2025, at the latest. If we are unable to add leaders or transportation, I may have to limit the number of students attending.
Alan will be collecting the money for the trip and turning it in to the Bethel Grove treasurer, Beth Thorp. Checks can be made out to “Bethel Grove Bible Church” and are tax deductible. BG will be paying Group Missions directly. Students are encouraged to participate in fundraising, either as a group or individually. Once the group roster is finalized, we will hold periodic team meetings to prepare for the trip. We will also have fundraising opportunities that students can be a part of to pay for the trip. We will need an adult to oversee the fundraising events or an individual event.
It should be a great week of service, learning more about Jesus and growing as a group. I hope you can join us.
